~ Share My Pet ~

In 2018, Share My Pet launched. Share My Pet is a community within New Zealand where pet owners can find some extra companionship and meet new friends. As well as this, it allows animal lovers without pets to be able to connect with other people’s pets and enjoy some quality time with an animal.

Three years ago, Lili and her husband Dave, wanted to enrich the lives of other pet parents. Their own fur babies, Miss Muppet, Snout and Elfie, became a source of love and happiness. Lili and Dave wanted to share this with other pet owners and to strengthen the bonds within the community, for both humans and animals.   

Lili has always been passionate about animals. She has always wanted to work with animals and creating Share My Pet has allowed her to do this, as well as spreading positivity. Her fur babies have given her so much in life: comfort, love, support and happiness. It was because of this, she decided to give back to them, as well as the many other amazing pets. Because of this, she created Share My Pet. 

The friendships that have flourished through Lili’s work has meant the most. Through nurturing these bonds, Lili and Dave have a much richer life. They have made new friends, enjoyed new experiences, and have seen first-hand the happiness of bringing people and pets together.  

The response to Share My Pet has been huge. People with pets can connect with others, find support, and be part of a kind, animal-loving community. Many people and animals have new made friends, found pet-sitters, advice, and so much more.  

With Lili and Dave’s guidance, it has only grown since 2018 and now has over 2,000 members. Share My Pet collaborate with companies and held events to further grow their community. They have shared stories, brought people and animals together, and have really helped form friendships, all through Share My Pet. 

Having seen how much of an impact Share Your Pet has had, Lili and Dave hope it continues to grow, both throughout New Zealand and worldwide. They have such a passion to help create and foster new relationships. It’s this love that motivates them to continue their work. They introduce people to new friends, animals to the best temporary carer when needed, and more.    

Through Share My Pet, Lili has worked in many different areas. However, her favourite thing to do is pet match-making. This is where she reads profiles of members and can make the best connection. Not only this, but she learns about many different people and their pets, welcomes them into the animal-loving community, and much more.  

The love and passion that both Lili and Dave have for the animal community is so strong. They share the special bonds that pet parents have and introduce others to their own fur baby. A Fox Named Marley

~ Pauline and Marley ~

Just over a year ago, Pauline welcomed fox kit Marley into her home. Ever since, they’ve become best friends and Marley has flourished into a thriving adult. 

Pauline has always been an animal lover. Even before Marley, she was known for rescuing animals who needed a bit of extra love and care. One day, Pauline was introduced to a tiny abandoned red fox kit who was obviously very unwell and needed urgent vet care. Unfortunately, all the rescues in the area were unavailable due to covid, so she decided to take the fox in and take her to be treated. Shortly after, she adopted the kit and named her Marley. 

Due to ongoing health issues, Marley could not have been released back into the wild. Generally, foxes should not be kept as pets. They can be a lot of work and are naturally wild animals. However, due to Marley’s health challenges and being abandoned at such a young age, she wouldn’t have survived on her own in the wild. Pauline wanted to give Marley the best chance of living a happy and healthy life.

In return, Marley has also helped Pauline immensely. They’ve both enjoyed going on adventures together. Marley has opened so many new doors for her human, from exploring new places to meeting new people.

Having Marley has inspired Pauline to become an advocate for animal welfare, especially foxes. Unfortunately, in the UK fox hunting is still something that is participated in. Pauline advocates against this and wants everyone to know just how beautiful foxes are. They have emotions, they form bonds, and more, as anyone with an animal will surely agree! She is a big supporter of Keep the Ban and Save A Fox, both organisations dedicated to protecting and helping foxes in the UK.

Together, they educate their community. From sharing photos to having people meet Marley for a cuddle, it shows what foxes are really like. Many have fallen in love with Marley due to her bubbly and sweet nature.

It’s safe to say that Marley has definitely found her forever home. She’s surrounded by love, both from her human family and Pauline’s five dogs. Pauline always ensures that Marley feels comfortable and safe. They all protect her and show her kindness.

Both Pauline and Marley have a very special bond. Not only this, but they are making a difference in the lives of many animals and people.

It’s obvious how much Pauline and Marley care for one another. Their lives have both improved for the better simply because of one another.

In 2019, the Fur Child Supply Co. was founded.  Fur Child Supply Co. is a New Zealand business that makes accessories for dogs.  From car seats to bike baskets, bandanas to poo bag holders, they wanted to make these products accessible to any dog owner.  

Founder, Caitlyn, felt there was a big gap in the market for quality and eco-friendly accessories for dogs.  As she couldn’t find any in New Zealand, she decided to do something about it, inspiring the creation of Fur Child Supply Co.  

Since starting the business, Fur Child Supply Co. has become a business that brings joy to customers.  All products are high quality and eco-friendly, as well as having a wide variety of designs!  All items are tested out by their CDEO (chief dog executive officer), Fin, to ensure they are of the best quality.  As well as this, they collaborate with different organisations to raise funds, such as for Rainbow Youth, Pet Refuge and more.  It shows how much compassion goes into this business.  

Each product is hand-made for you and your dog.  You can even request customised products, such as a bandana with your doggo’s name on it!  Or you can go out with your dog in style with a lovely new leash or collar (or even both), of which there are many different designs.  There are even products for humans, including t-shirts, hoodies, and more.  There is truly something for everyone to enjoy.  

The business itself has grown and acquired a large community of dog lovers.  As part of Fur Child Supply Co., Caitlyn has formed a Brunch Club.  This is a monthly event in Hamilton where dogs and their humans can all get together.  Fur Child Supply Co. hopes to create more dog-friendly spaces in New Zealand cafes and restaurants by doing this.  Since the first event, it has been a great success.  

The Brunch Club has been a great way for dogs and humans alike to meet up and, of course, enjoy some yummy food!  In 2019, they held a special event where humans and their dogs could enjoy a movie together at a cinema.  Of course, this was Secret Life of Pets 2.  It was something that was immensely enjoyed by the 211 guests who attended, plus two news crews!  

One of the best things for Fur Child Supply Co. is seeing their products and gear out and about.  It motivates them to continue designing and creating new things to be enjoyed by both dogs and humans.  Through this business, Fur Child Supply Co. have created a loving and positive community.  Whether sharing a post or purchasing something from their online store, any support is greatly appreciated.

~ S’mores ~

Almost 2 years ago, S’mores found his forever home.  His human fell in love with him, and they’ve been inseparable ever since. 

In October of 2019, Smores’ human found him online.  Wanting to adopt a hedgehog, they did an internet search.  Soon enough, they spotted a baby male hedgehog and wanted to know more.  

Unfortunately, it seemed as though this hedgehog had not been well looked after in his short life.  After a while, it was decided this was the hedgehog they wanted to adopt.  Once they went to meet the previous owners, there was no doubt they would be leaving without this hedgehog, with a new name – S’mores.

It was a difficult beginning for S’mores and his new human.  As S’mores hadn’t been properly handled and was neglected, he was very scared and hostile.  His human didn’t even get to see his face at all, apart from when he uncurled to eat.  

Despite S’mores’ challenges, his human knew they were meant to be together.  They spent months handling S’mores, trying to gain trust, and more.  Gradually, S’mores started to open up.  Earlier this year, he sat on his human’s lap for the first time, which was a big step for both of them.  The challenges they’ve both faced together to get where they now have only brought them closer.  

Not only has S’mores’ life improved, but his human has become much happier.  Simply having his company, seeing his cute little face and more, has given his human so much happiness.  On days when it might be difficult, S’mores can always bring a bit of sunshine to a clouded day.  

Due to the amazing effect, S’mores has had, his human has been inspired to start their own hedgehog business – Hugs and Thistles.  Here, they sell products for hedgehogs, and other animals, such as hats, snack bags, toys and more!  Of course, S’mores helps too in testing and modelling the products. 

Both S’mores and his human enjoy simply being in each other’s company.  His human loves when S’mores curls up in their lap as it has taken a lot to get to this point.  They have worked very hard to show S’mores that he can feel safe and comfortable in his home.  While he still has his moments of distrust, he has come such a long way since day one. 

The bond between S’mores and his human is amazing.  It is evident how much they have both helped one another.  S’mores has flourished and his human has gained so much happiness.  The love and care they have for each other is incredible.
