Genevieve, Izak and Frankie

~ Genevieve, Izak and Frankie ~

In 2021, Genevieve and her fiance, Izak, adopted Taco Terrier, Frankie. They have formed a very special bond and have become a family together. 

Having been wanting to adopt a dog, Genevieve and Izak had spent some time discussing it but felt that they needed to find their own place first. Once they did, they began searching for a furry friend. 

Izak started searching by joining some pages on social media. After a while, a 5-month-old puppy, Frankie, appeared on one of them. She was being rehomed as she and her sibling couldn’t be kept together due to fighting too much. Izak sent a photo to Genevieve and they both fell in love with her little face. They were unsure if they could adopt her as a lot of people were also interested in giving her a forever home. However, two weeks later, Izak and Genevieve received a call telling them Frankie was theirs. 

After receiving the call, Genevieve and Izak went on a six-hour drive to Hawera to pick up their new furbaby. Halfway there, they found themselves being filled with anticipation, wondering if she would like them and be a good fit. Once they arrived, however, they knew Frankie was perfect. She fell asleep on Izak’s shoulder and he and Genevieve knew she had found her forever home. 

Since adopting Frankie, she has had such a huge impact on both her humans, Genevieve especially. Each day, Frankie brings so much joy and love. When they return home from work, being welcomed by an excited pup never fails to make them smile. 

Genevieve is a mental health advocate and has co-founded a charity, Voices of Hope, and co-created an app resource name Love Your Kite. Both help to provide hope to those struggling with mental illnesses. It can become overwhelming at times but Frankie is always there. When things are tough, whether it’s a challenging day or it’s been a difficult day at work, Frankie is right by Genevieve’s side. She also just knows exactly when to give Genevieve a big snuggle. 

Not only has Frankie had an impact on Genevieve and Izak, but also those around her. When out and about, all who pass by smile as they see her little face. She’s a very social dog and just loves meeting new friends. As well as this, if Frankie wants more attention or pats, she taps her humans with her front paw and looks up with her puppy-dog eyes. 

One of Genevieve, Izak and Frankie’s favourite things to do together is go to the beach. Seeing Frankie tear around and play fills Genevieve’s heart with pure joy. The happiness that the beach brings Frankie spreads to those who see her living her best life. One time, she even made a friend at the beach by sneaking a chip from their fish and chips lunch! 

The impact that Frankie has had on Genevieve and Izak has been huge. From being woken up early in the morning to be met by a snuggly pup, to laughing every day because of her antics. She has brought so much light and love into their lives and has formed a special bond.

~ Krystal, Sarah, Emmett and Frankie ~

A few years ago, Sarah and her wife, Krystal, welcomed Emmett into their family. Then, a year ago, they added Frankie. Since then, they have become a beautiful family full of love. 

Sadly, in 2018, Sarah lost her twin sister. She was devastated and felt there was a huge hole in her heart. As an avid animal lover, Sarah felt it was fitting to adopt an animal from her local SPCA.

Shortly after losing her sister, Sarah, and Krystal, went to the Wellington SPCA centre. There, they met an 11-month-old kitten named Alexander. He was small and scared, quite the opposite of what they had been looking for. However, something about his eyes and sweet face won Sarah and Krystal over. They decided to adopt him and renamed him Emmett in Emma’s honour. 

About two years later, Sarah and Krystal decided to adopt another fur baby. They discovered a new litter of Dachshund puppies who were being advertised on behalf of a pet store in New Plymouth. From where they live, this was a 4.5 hour drive, but after some thinking, they decided to go for it. 

They next day, once they arrived, they were in love. Sarah and Krystal met the puppy, Frankie who was a small, bouncy ball of fluff, and immediately decided he was the perfect pup for them. 

At first, there was an adjustment period, however, Emmett and Frankie now get along like brothers. They nap together, play with Frankie’s ball and play-fight, and enjoy being around each other. They sometimes have disagreements, but never go to sleep without making up. 

Having both Emmett and Frankie has helped Sarah and Krystal hugely. Since first adopting him, Emmett has shared a very special bond with Sarah. They spend much of their time together and Emmett is always there for her. Due to health issues, Sarah had to work from home in 2021. During this time, Emmett was the best coworker! He would stay by her side all day long and provide her with all the snuggles she needed.

While Emmett is Sarah’s best friend, Frankie is Krystal’s, but they’re both their fur children. Frankie is always extremely excited when his mums come home. He greets them at the door and, no matter what kind of day they’ve had, he always lifts their mood. Not only this, but Frankie encourages them to go out. He loves his walks, especially at the beach, and he goes everywhere that he can with Sarah and Krystal, from festivals to markets. 

Emmett and Frankie bring so much happiness into Sarah and Krystal’s lives. Emmett is always there for snuggles and comfort, and Frankie is always there to make them laugh or cheer them up after a long day – although he’s known to sometimes hide socks in their garden! The joy that they bring Sarah and Krystal is what inspired them to start an Instagram account for them, so they could share this with more people. 

Not only do Emmett and Frankie brighten Sarah and Krystal’s lives, but also that of their friends and family. Emmett and Frankie’s grandparents love seeing them for playdates, naps and even sleepovers! All of the family look forward to seeing their furry family members! 

The impact that Emmett and Frankie have had on Krystal and Sarah has been incredible. They’ve helped them through thick and thin and have provided them with endless joy and unconditional love. 

Tom and Frankie — December 10, 2021

Tom and Frankie

~ Tom and Frankie ~

In January of this year, Frankie was adopted by Tom and his wife. Ever since, they have formed such a great bond and Frankie has had such a big impact. 

Tom’s niece had Frankie, but was unable to care for him properly. Because of this, he decided to adopt him into his home. Tom and his wife already had two bearded dragons, and so knew how to look after him. 

It was a bit of an adjustment at first. Frankie has enjoyed testing his boundaries, but has adapted well and has become a very loved member of their family. 

With Frankie, Tom has become more active. Having to look after him and help keep him out of trouble is a full-time job. He certainly keeps Tom on his toes! Although, he has added more joy to Tom’s life, and helps to fertilise the garden.

Not only does Frankie bring happiness to Tom and his family’s life, but through his Instagram, he has spread his antics with many different people. Tom loves to see Frankie simply living his best life. 

In the short amount of time they have been together, Tom and Frankie have formed such a special bond. Frankie can always make Tom smile, no matter what, and Tom has allowed Frankie to live a full life.
