~ Deanna, Scott, Nicole and Scooby ~

Just under three years ago, Deanna, Scott and Nicole met Scooby. Since then, they have become a family and have impacted each other’s lives hugely. 

In December 2020, Deanna, Scott and Nicole lost their elderly dog to cancer. They were heartbroken and there was a big hole in their hearts and their family. Their house felt quiet and Deanna, Scott and Nicole felt lost. 

Not long after losing their dog did Deanna and Scott come across the Shorty’s Rescue social media page. At the time, the whole world was in lockdown due to Covid-19, so, she met with the rescue via video chat. She learnt that there was a dog named Maria at the rescue who was pregnant when she was found. Maria had a litter of ten puppies and, while meeting with them through video chats, Deanna fell in love with one particular puppy. In January 2021, Deanna, Scott and Nicole met with the pup and knew he was the one and named him Scooby. 

The same day that Deanna, Scott and Nicole adopted Scooby, they decided to start an Instagram account for him. They wanted to share photos of him with friends and family during the Covid-19 lockdowns. Doing this brought them all much closer together. Slowly, their page grew and they became part of a wider community of dog parents. 

Having their own page has also inspired them to become advocates for animal safety. It’s important to Deanna, Scott and Nicole to educate people about bully breeds, as well as animal care and welfare. As well as this, it has helped them feel less alone. They are able to offer tips and advice for dog parents, as well as receive support when they need it, too. 

Something that Deanna, Scott, Nicole and Scooby enjoy is simply spending time together. Scooby loves snuggles and giving kisses to his humans. He also has an affinity for being a model and posing in his bandanas, PJs and bathrobes. Not only this, but having Scooby in their lives has helped his family hugely. They love going on car trips and exploring new places as a family.

The impact that Scooby has had on Deanna, Scott and Nicole has been huge. Each day, he brings endless joy and love into their lives, and they ensure he is living his best life. Every day is made better simply because they have one another. 

Nicole and Rigatoni — February 3, 2023

Nicole and Rigatoni

~ Nicole and Rigatoni ~

Almost two years ago, Nicole met Rigatoni, a sweet little Dachshund puppy. Since then, they have become the best of friends and have helped each other hugely. 

In 2021, shortly after the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions began to lift, Nicole was looking to adopt a dog. She had been feeling lonely and wanted a companion who could keep her company while working from home. When a friend told her there was a litter of puppies looking for a home, Nicole jumped at the chance and arranged a visit. 

Once there, Nicole instantly fell in love with one pup in particular – Rigatoni. He sat with her and gave her lots of cuddles, choosing her to be his human. A few weeks later, Rigatoni was on his way to his new forever home. 

Having Rigatoni has hugely impacted Nicole’s life. No matter what, he can always brighten his human’s day by sharing endless joy and laughter. Not only has he impacted Nicole’s life, but also that of their community and others online. Shortly after adopting him, Nicole posted a video of him to social media. It went viral and she received hundreds of messages from people telling her how much it made their day. 

Something that Nicole and Rigatoni enjoy doing is being active and social together. Living in an apartment building, and across from a popular dog park, they’re often stopped by people, and sometimes dogs, wanting to say hi to Rigatoni. Nicole tries to organise puppy-playdates whenever possible, so much so, he runs straight to the door whenever she says, “Do you want to see your friends?” It means a lot to Nicole to have such a supportive group of friends, as well as seeing the joy it brings Rigatoni. 

The bond that Nicole and Rigatoni share is so special. They have brought so much love and light into each other’s lives. Every day is made better simply because they have one another. 

Nicole and Odin — September 7, 2022

Nicole and Odin

~ Nicole and Odin ~

At the end of last year, Nicole and Odin met. Since then, they have become the best of friends and bring so much joy into each and every day. 

In 2021, while scrolling through social media, Nicole saw a photo of Pomeranian x Dachshund puppies. She knew immediately she had to arrange a visit. Once she arrived, her heart melted as one of the puppies ran right up to her and curled up in her arms. From this moment, Nicole knew it was just meant to be. What solidified her decision was that she met the pup, whom she named Odin, on the 17th of December and 7 is a lucky number for Nicole and her family. 

Just before adopting Odin, Nicole lost her cat, Sebastian. She was devastated and felt there was a big hole in her life afterwards. When she adopted Odin, he helped her to heal and, together, they visit Sebastian’s grave in their backyard. It’s difficult, but having her canine companion by her side has meant a lot.

Having Odin has had a big impact on Nicole. Each day he brings her so much love and joy. Before work, he helps to start his human’s day off right with an excited tail wag. When she returns home from work, Odin races to meet her and instantly washes away any stresses from her day. They love snuggling up together on the sofa and watching a relaxing movie or series on Netflix. 

Not only has Odin impacted Nicole, but also her family and community. He has helped bring Nicole’s family closer together, simply by being himself. Everyone who meets him instantly falls in love. As well as this, two dogs who live nearby, Luna and Rose, love visiting Odin and playing tug-of-war or just running around. 

Something that Nicole and Odin enjoy is going on adventures. Whether meeting up with friends, exploring new places, or simply running around their backyard and playing together. Having this time with one another means so much to the both of them. 

While Odin has only been part of Nicole’s life for just under a year, they have already formed a special bond and created lots of happy memories together. Each day is made better simply because they have each other.
